Recently, Francis Gurry, Director General of World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and WIPO Deputy Director General Wang Binying came to Shanghai High People's Court (SHPC) with a delegation. They visited the exhibition hall of SHPC history, "12368" hotline platform for litigation service, information center and Chinese Courts International Exchanges Base (Shanghai) for Judicial Protection of Intellectual Property Rights. They also had discussion with SHPC judges. Zhao Wen, Vice Mayor of Shanghai Municipal Government accompanied the delegation during their visit.
Cui Yadong, President of Shanghai High People's Court introduced achievements in promoting professional mechanism reform of intellectual property trials and judicial protection of intellectual property rights. He also talked about progresses of preparation for establishing Shanghai Intellectual Property Court. He hopes to strengthen communication and cooperation between SHPC and WIPO in the field of judicial protection of intellectual property.
Gurry spoke highly of SHPC's efforts to promote open justice and convenience for people by IT construction and strengthen judicial protection of intellectual property rights. He said it was impressive to see SHPC utilizing high-tech tools for citizens' well-beings, city construction and economic development. He believed that the establishment of Shanghai Intellectual Property Court will further enhance judicial protection of intellectual property rights and provide strong support for achieving the strategic objective of building Shanghai into Asia-Pacific intellectual property center.
